This amp was built in the early 2010s in it s firs This amp was built in the early 2010s in it s first form, had been modded to 4 channels a few years ago. It s unique beacuse of the C core output transformer. Mainly used in hiend hifi, i had to recalculate a bunch of stuff before i handed over the plans to this oldshool winding shop downtown. Not so short after they closed up so it was HENR (high effort no return) cause, but brought up nice memories so when it returned for a checkup i took the opportunity to record some bad caveman riffs with it. Have you ever heard the term "Taking the edge off? Have you ever heard the term "Taking the edge off?" I'm sure you are. And it is pretty much a good thing every single time. So why not take the edge off your digitally generated guitar sound? Modelers are great and versatile tools, but they lack the real deal that defines we all like: tube and iron aka transformer. The magic in all the records we listen and love. So we created this little device that can add that mojo, round off the edges, and add those harmonics while taking out the harsh parts. Inside is a 12xx7 tube (can use at ax au), and a transformer driven xlr symmetric output, that you can pad back with a pot, to run hotter. A line level TS out is incorporated too without the tx. Other two features: --line / instrument switch: not just attenuates the signal in line mode, but reconfigures the gain control to run after the tube stage in instrument mode. Tis way you can use the device before the modeler as a tube preamp and also as a tube DI box. --3 way drive switch: off/highmid+treble/full freq boost, pretty self explaining. . All fed from a 12VDC power supply that feeds the tube heaters and the internal charge pump for the 250VDC proper B+ . Pretty neat huh? And looks cool too. Signal path only had minor corrections, has the same Kaosamp mojo as before, let it be tightening up the low end or boosting a classic tube amp into oblivion while keeping it tight, or adding analog magic to digital rigs. Ditched the second ++ foostswich since everybody used one or the other mode permanently, so toggle switch it is, and this way we have more room for an improved internal power supply. And yes, the 12ax7 tube is still inside of course.
