Generally all Engls have waay too much gain and "binary" feel for my taste, and the customer said the guitar tone gets lost in the mix. So i "cleaned" it up, backed off the gain, added some midrange definition , and everyone was happy. Have you ever heard the brand Ashton? Me neither. It turned out to be a knockoff based on the Marshall jcm900/dsl chassis. This came in already beyond repair, because someone tried to make a bass amp from it. So we gutted the circuit board, and rebuilt the whole amp with our rock series circuit since the trafos were decent. Was pretty beaten up in shape, so we decided to stay with the roadworn look, but gave it the new faceplate and a back control plate now with the updated features, a switchable 100W dummy load and line out, and power reduction. Got a full retube because more than one were completely shot and circuit update too.
